Carbonation Press – About

Carbonation’s Story

Poet and librarian Greg Bem created Carbonation Press in late 2023 after years of supporting small press activities around the world, as well as leading small publishing projects. The press is located on the lands of the Spokane Tribe, commonly called Spokane, Washington, USA. Carbonation Press is neither a for-profit business nor a non-profit organization, but an ongoing hybrid-publication project.

Carbonation Press supports writers and artists in the publication of their unique and oddly-sized works, though it now tends to focus mostly on longer works, with additional literary components like interviews, prefaces, and other dialogic elements. Carbonation Press aims to publish the work of writers spanning different genres and forms, in ways that encourage publisher-author collaboration and support aspects of smaller literary communities. Each publication has limited runs, and can be supported with online distribution to various retailers around the globe, via Lulu.com.

Carbonation strives to seek out and include diverse voices, and actively argues against social and political neutrality, responding to neutrality’s myth through elegance, compassion, and intellectual discourse.
